César, a successful Argentinean painter, travels to Brazil. He is returning to the same coastal town where he had stayed with Lucía years earlier, at the end of a visit to that country. She had been eighteen then, and he was about to turn thirty-five. Upon their return, they separated. The military government was in full swing, and Lucía got picked up and joined the long list of “the missing". This new trip is one of atonement and César's desperate attempt to expiate the guilt that has plagued him ever since. He wants to cleanse away the hatred and the rage that has consumed him throughout the years. Through rites, liquor and elusive images, and with the help of charming characters that will act as guides and companions, he will seek to be freed.

Life and death, outstanding debts, individual justice and the rule of law are some of the pillars of this story, clearly inscribed within the larger History. It is a profoundly humane tale, filled with hope and beautiful in its hardness and remembrance.
